These Regulations regulate the procedure, conditions of organization and program of the
IX «ORLEU» International Competition of Choreographic Schools.The founders of the competition are:
1. Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2. Alexander Seleznev Almaty Choreographic school.
3. Eurasian Cultural Foundation.
Dates of the competition:
from March 30 to April 4, 2025.
1. The main objectives of the competition1.1. Development and preservation of the classical heritage of the XIX – XX centuries.
1.2. Preservation and development of classical dance techniques.
1.3. Development of performing skills;
1.4. Identification, popularization and support of motivation of young talents in the field of choreographic art.
1.5. Preservation and development of national choreographic art.
1.6. Development of contemporary choreography.
1.7. Preservation and development of folk and character dances.
1.8. International exchange of creative achievements and work experience in the field of choreographic education and art.
1.9. Strengthening the creative co-operation between teachers-choreographers, ballet master’s and cultural and artistic figures.
2. Procedure for the Competition2.1. Students from professional choreographic educational institutions (schools, colleges, vocational schools, academies) may participate in the competition.
2.2.
The IX «ORLEU» International Competition of Choreographic Schools is held in three categories:
1.
Classical Dance (three age groups):
o
Junior Group 11-13 years (2, 3, 4 years of study): two classical variations.
o
Middle Group 14-16 years (5th year of study, 1st course): three classical variations.
o
Senior Group 17-19 years (2nd – 3rd courses) - choice of:
1. Two pas de deux and a contemporary choreography performance.
2. One pas de deux, two classical variations, and a contemporary choreography performance.
3. Four classical variations and a contemporary choreography performance.

Folk Dance (folk-stage, folk, folk-folklore, stylized folk dance) for 15-19 years old (solo or ensemble – no more than 16 people).
3.
Contemporary Choreography (contemporary, jazz-modern, neoclassical, and other styles) for 15-19 years old (solo or ensemble – no more than 16 people).
2.3. The order of performances in the competition is determined by a draw and remains the same until the end of the competition.
2.4. In pas de deux performances, the order of performance is determined by the partner’s number. If during the competition the partner drops out, the order will be determined by the partner’s number.
2.5. When performing contemporary choreography, participants performing pas de deux are allowed to perform solo, and soloists are allowed to form duets with other participants or partners.
2.6. If one of the duet participants does not pass to the II or III round, he must stay until the end of the competition and perform as the partner for the other contestant in subsequent rounds and the gala concert of the competition laureates.
2.7. The performance evaluation is carried out by secret voting on a 25-point scale. In pas de deux, each performer is evaluated separately.
2.8. Jury members are not allowed to conduct rehearsals with their students during the competition, nor evaluate their participants during the final results.
2.9. The final distribution of places and prizes is made at the final jury meeting, considering the results of all rounds. The jury's decision is final and cannot be reviewed.
2.10. All laureates and diploma winners, as well as their partners, must participate without compensation in the closing ceremony and two gala concerts of laureates and diploma winners (if such events are announced), with a program approved by the jury and the competition Directorate.
2.11. The competition Directorate holds exclusive rights to broadcast, audio and video recordings of the competition and the final gala concert of laureates, as well as the right to further use and distribute these materials without compensating the participants, teachers, and accompanists. Video, photo, or film recording by any person is allowed only with special permission from the Directorate.
2.12. The competition Directorate reserves the right to modify the competition conditions but is obliged to notify us about any changes in a timely manner.
3. Procedure for Submitting Applications3.1. The application to participate in the competition is submitted by the candidate through the official website orleufest.com in the informational and telecommunication network "Internet" (hereinafter – the official website). The application must be filled out in Russian or English according to the form provided on the official website.
3.2. The application form consists of:
1.Surname, first name, patronymic of the participant.
2.The Gender of the participants.
3. The date of birth;
4.Country and city of residence.
5.Contact phone number of the participants (with Telegram, for creating a common chat for participants of the competition "ORLEU").
6. Email address;
7.The Name of the educational institution.
8.Year of study or course.
9.Nomination, age group, and performance category (for the senior group);
10.Performance program by rounds, with mandatory indication of the composer, title of the number, and choreographer.
11.Information about the teacher (full name, position, titles).
12.Soundtracks in mp3 format (the soundtrack's name must include the performer's surname, title of the number, and indicate in which round the recording will be performed. Participants must provide soundtracks for each number separately, uploaded to the cloud).
13.Portrait photo (minimum resolution: 1000 px by height/width), uploaded via a cloud link.
14.Stage photo (minimum resolution: 1000 px by height/width), uploaded via a cloud link.
15.A scan of an identity document (scan of the birth certificate or passport, uploaded via a cloud link).
16.A scan of the document from the educational institution (uploaded via a cloud link).
3.3. The acceptance of applications starts from the official publication of the Regulations on the competition website and ends on March 1, 2025.
3.4. The application submitted to the Official website is evidence that the applicant agrees with the requirements of the Regulations and fully accepts the conditions of the competition.
3.5. The competition Directorate is obliged to confirm receipt of the application within a week after the end of the application period, by email or by posting the information on the official website.
3.6. The application is considered accepted only if it contains all the listed documents and meets all the requirements.
3.7. Upon arrival, during registration, participants must confirm their performance program. Subsequently, during the competition, participants are not allowed to change their performance program.
3.8. All in-person performance screenings of participants are conducted publicly.
3.9. In case of withdrawal from the Competition, documents, video materials, and participation fees are not refunded.
4. Financial Terms of the Competition4.1. Participants must arrive at the competition according to the dates specified by the organizing committee in the invitation.
4.2. Participants and their accompanying people are responsible for their travel expenses to and from Almaty.
4.3. On the day of arrival at the competition, the participant must pay an entrance fee: 16,000 KZT – without accommodation and meals at the dormitory of the school; 30,000 KZT – with accommodation and meals at the dormitory of the school (solo); 6,000 KZT from each ensemble participant (group performance). The fee is paid during registration and is accepted only in KZT. For participation in multiple categories, the fee is paid separately for each category.
4.4. If a candidate refuses to participate in the competition, documents and the entrance fee are not refunded.
4.5. Participants who are not citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan are responsible for obtaining their passport and visa based on the official invitation for competition participation.
4.6. Participants who arrive at the competition and refuse to perform or do not pass to the II and III rounds may stay until the end of the competition at their own expense.
4.7. The Directorate does not provide insurance for the participants or accompanying people.
4.8. The Directorate does not provide participants with stage costumes, makeup, or ballet shoes.
4.9. The Directorate provides rehearsal studios and one rehearsal before each round.
4.10. All information posted on the official website is current at the time of publication. The organizing committee reserves the right to make changes if necessary. In case of discrepancies between the Russian and English versions of the texts and conditions, the Russian version takes precedence.
5. Performance Program5.1. NOMINATION "Classical Dance":I Round:
Classical dance lesson:
- 2-5 years of study (girls and boys).
- 1st-3rd year (girls);
- 1st-3rd year (boys).
II Round:
- Junior Group - first classical variation from the list of variations offered.
- Middle Group - two classical variations from the list of variations offered.
- Senior Group - two classical variations, or pas de deux from the list of offered variations and pas de deux.
III Round:
- Junior Group - second classical variation from the list of offered variations, or a variation created by the teacher based on the junior classes’ program (the variation from Round II can be repeated);
- Middle Group - third classical variation from the offered list.
- Senior Group:
- 1st performance: Two classical variations, or pas de deux from the list of offered variations and pas de deux.
- 2nd performance: Contemporary choreography (piece created after 2021).

- Kazakh or folk dance at the discretion of the performer (duration: solo – up to 3 minutes; ensemble – up to 5 minutes).
II Round:
- Folk-stage, folk, or stylized folk dance (duration: solo – up to 3 minutes; ensemble – up to 5 minutes).
5.3. NOMINATION "Contemporary Choreography":I Round:
- Contemporary or neoclassical (duration: solo – up to 3 minutes; ensemble – up to 5 minutes).
II Round:
- Jazz-modern, modern, or improvisation by the performer (duration: solo – up to 3 minutes; ensemble – up to 5 minutes).
5.4.
GRAND CLOSING – Awards ceremony and Gala concert of the competition winners and best performances selected by the jury on the stage of the
Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater.
5.5. The program for the Gala concert, prepared by the jury members, is final and not subject to discussion or revision.
5.6. A detailed schedule of the competition is available on the official website
6. Jury to the Competition6.1. The jury consists of recognized masters of choreographic art and cultural figures.
6.2. The list of the members of the jury for the
IX «ORLEU» International Competition of Choreographic Schools is available on the official competition website.
6.3. The jury has the right
to:
- Not award all prizes;
- Divide prizes among performers;
- Award special prizes.
6.4. The jury’s decision is final and cannot be reviewed, discussed, or appealed. All questions and proposals should be directed at the organizing committee of the competition.

7.2. Each participant and their teachers receive a certificate of participation in «ORLEU».
7.3. Special prizes and awards for participants in specific nominations or categories, as determined by the organizers, will be provided.
8. Calendar of Competition Dates8.1. Arrival:
March 29, 2025; registration (confirmation of competition program), rehearsals, and draw. Departure:
April 5, 2025.
8.2. The competition schedule will be provided to each participant and school leader during registration.
